Dirk Nowitzki joins exclusive 30,000-point club

Dallas Mavericks' legend Dirk Nowitzki has now joined NBA greats Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain as part of the 30,000-point club.  Nowitzki entered the game 20 points shy of the mark so it was not guaranteed that he would reach the milestone that game.  But, he dominated early on, scoring 14 points and shooting 5-5 from the field half way through the first quarter.  Dirk hit 30,000 on a baseline jumper over Larry Nance Jr. with 10 minutes, 58 seconds remaining in the second quarter.  The crowd erupted and gave Dirk a rousing ovation.  He finished the game with 25 points and 11 rebounds: one of his best games of the season.

  1. No doubt Dirk is a legend. I loved him when he led the Mavs over the Heat that first year LeBron left!

  2. It's great to see a veteran in the league finally hit that milestone they have been chasing since the beginning of their career. How many more seasons do you think Dirk has in him? What do you predict will be his career total?

    1. To be honest, I think Dirk might play for 1 more year. I do not think he'll pass anyone else in NBA scoring history because he still needs over 1,000 points to do so. I think Dirk's career total will hover around 30,500-31,000 by the time he retires.

  3. Dirk joins elite company by scoring 30,000 points and his career isn't even over yet. Dirk is one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history. What makes this milestone even more remarkable is that he did it with just one team!
